Dr. Velander is a board-certified addiction psychiatrist with 10 years of post-graduate experience in addiction and dual diagnosis treatment. She received a medical degree from the University of Michigan and completed residency training in psychiatry at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell and addiction psychiatry fellowship at Beth Israel hospital in New York. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Louisiana State University and previously served as Director of Addiction Services at Ochsner Medical Center and as the Chief Medical Officer of Odyssey House Louisiana.
