Watch as WDSU-NO (NBC) breaks down the grand opening of NOLA Detox and Recovery Center. This 36-bedroom facility in Algiers is hoping to address the growing opioid addiction crisis in New Orleans. According to the Center for Disease Control, New Orleans is at the center of the nation’s growing opioid epidemic. New Orleans had an overdose rate four to six times greater than the rest of the state of Louisiana in 2020. The center’s plan is to provide a unique style of care to patients that treats their addiction like any other biological alignment. The center hopes their no-shame approach can provide the NOLA community with some relief from the opioid epidemic.
